I’ve been on vacation this week, soaking up some much needed time with my family in the rare few weeks when we all overlap in the same magical place. To honor this time, I decided to take a little break from the newsletter this week. I’ve had tennis matches to watch (and play), ocean dunks to prioritize, and generally wanted to give myself some time to unplug.
It turns out, taking a step back from the daily grind isn't just a luxury—it's a critical investment in your well-being and long-term success. Many of the world's top performers get this – using strategic breaks to recharge, reflect, and ultimately come back stronger. Tennis legend Roger Federer, for instance, took a six-month hiatus in 2016 after knee surgery, returning to win three more Grand Slam titles. Like Federer, Adele took an extended break from the spotlight, which resulted in her record-breaking comeback album 25.
Time away isn't lost time; it's an opportunity for growth, perspective, and renewed passion. Whether it's a short daily meditation or a longer sabbatical, incorporating regular breaks into your routine can lead to increased creativity, improved mental health, and ultimately, better performance in all areas of life.
It is August, after all. Why not do as the Europeans do?!
Until next week!
