Love this. How about a section on Fake sun tanning lotions. Il Makiage is heavily promoting one on insta and FB. Any good? Safe to use? Xoxox

Amanda!!! Hi I’m so honored you’re reading :) Good idea to do a deeper dive on self tan options. I know Tan Luxe is GREAT and non-toxic so I’d start there over Il Makiage. Looks like Yuka gives their sun foam a 39/100 (poor) but I’ll add this for review with Phillip, the cosmetic chemist I work with. Will report back on a list of good ones 🫡

This is fantastic. I have often reported on SPF and rely on Ellen Gendler, a derm who I lovingly call The Sunscreen Whisperer, for guidance as this category can be challenging; between technology changes and misleading labels, it's no wonder women are flustered. Some mineral (zinc oxide) sunscreens l love are Kinfield Daily Dew SPF 35 and Isdin Eryfotona Actinica, Daily Mineral SPF 50+.

But! If you can get chemical sunscreens while abroad (not the US versions as they are not the same) — Isdin and La Rocha Posey are great — Gendler recommends looking for these ingredients on the label: Tinosorb S or M; Mexoryl XL or SX; or Uvinal A.

Perfect!! A word of caution — she is brutally honest but I wouldn't have it any other way. As the beauty category has been manipulated by influencers, leading to myths and product misuse, I am grateful for experts who are not afraid to speak out. xx
